The Over Unders: The Over Unders are a Minneapolis based Alt Rock trio from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, comprised of brothers Sam (Guitar and Vocals) and Matthew (Drums) Hellman, and bassist Jake Morely. Their fresh and enthusiastic take on classic rock n’ roll is often likened to their major influences who fall all along the diverse spectrum of power pop and classic alternative. Principal songwriter Sam Hellman’s favorites come through most, giving the majority of their tunes a “Big Star meets Replacements, by way of Gin Blossoms” vibe. Think Old 97’s and Ted Leo too, as these are common names mentioned when describing the Over Unders’ simple but complete sound. Perhaps what sets them apart from their peers most is their simultaneous willingness to shoot for the stars with anthemic rock songs that seek to emulate their heroes REM, and very fittingly, brother rock giants Oasis. Above all else, The Over Unders value well crafted songs that deliver honest confessions and observations about life. Their 2022 EP "No Soap Radio" went to work for them (Featuring "Rhonda" with 55K+ spotify streams), landing them a spot at legendary Minneapolis rock club 7th St. Entry, as well as a slot at Cadott, Wisconsin's Rockfest.
